Traditionally when school starts up again many people are searching for group party places and venues where everybody can have fun and celebrate. It’s a time when parents and kids are looking for fun things to do, particularly on hot days.
Summer is also a time though when businesses are hosting corporate parties, events and even fundraisers. We’ve been to a number of these as a guest but also as the organizer.
It can be difficult to find a group party place with everything you need for your event. You have to think about the food, the place (venue) but also the fun. If the venue isn’t fun your employees and guests are going to lose interest quickly.
So if you’re searching for the perfect party or event place whether it be for your family, a group of kids or your business consider John’s Incredible Pizza Company. We’ve been to a few of their locations over the years for events ranging from birthday parties to general business get-togethers but also to just have fun with the kids.
John’s Pizza has diverse offerings
. Here’s why it’s worked for us not only for birthday parties but also for corporate events:
Let’s start with the food. It’s important to have a great selection of food for your guests, employees and of course, kids. You can’t please everyone but John’s comes very close. Their all-you-can-eat buffet
is the best I’ve seen. It includes a Pizza Bar with every topping you can imagine where the kitchen is constantly replenishing the supply so it’s always fresh and hot. Our personal favorite is the pesto pizza but you might try their peanut butter pizza. It’s incredible and definitely worth a try.
If you’re not a fan of pizza or craving something different the day you visit then you’re covered. John’s offers a full pasta and salad bar with fresh toppings and a multitude of pasta dishes.
And last but not least is the dessert bar. Just when you thought you were full you walk by and see fresh baked cakes, cookies and even soft-serve ice cream with all the toppings and it’s still all-you-can-eat.
Drinks come from a row of soda fountains and include all of the beverage favorites but there are also options for coffee, tea and of course water. If you’re craving a beer or glass of wine, they offer that too. There’s a two-drink maximum during standard business hours. For special events like business parties and other large group parties contact the location
directly for any restrictions on alcohol.
So for any type of party whether it be a kid’s birthday party, fundraiser, or group party you know the food is sufficiently covered. But what about the fun?
If John’s is anything it’s fun. If you haven’t been to one of John’s Pizza’s 8 California locations it could be difficult to imagine what it’s like inside. This is why we love their interactive tour. You can actually take a look at everything they have to offer before you even get there.
Fun World is just that, a very large indoor area with rides
, games, prizes and other fun things to do. The rides range from bumper cars to the spinning twister and even glow golf. It’s not just fun for kids but also for adults. This type of fun indoor environment can easily consume a day for your party or event.
So now you have the food and fun covered but what about an actual private area where you can have a birthday party or large corporate event?
For birthday parties John’s has private rooms that look out to Fun World. This is a great setup because you get the privacy of having your own room but the openness of an all-glass entrance. With this the kids can look out at Fun World while they enjoy their cake and gift opening.
John’s is great for kid’s birthday parties but it’s also perfect as a group party venue. They offer much larger rooms with all the accommodations you’ll need for a business meeting or fundraiser. From web connections, to big screens even podiums and of course closed doors so it’s quiet when the time comes to get down to business. We love John’s for this application.
We’ve been to so many business events where the venue is simply boring. If the participants lose interest or they have nothing to look forward to (like lots of food and fun), the meeting can be unproductive.
This year when planning a children’s birthday party, group party, business event or fundraiser check out John’s Incredible Pizza. They have everything you need for a successful event.

It’s Back-to-School time again. The emails for back-to-school supplies sales are loading up my inbox. Be sure to check your local everything stores for great deals. Target, Walmart, Office Depot and Office Max all have your school essentials for unbelievable prices right now, so it’s a great time to stock up.
We homeschool our 2nd grader, but our 1st grader goes to school. In preparation for the first day of
school, and to ease any first day jitters, we were looking for ways to help kids adjust to going back to school. One of the ideas they have is to plan a fun event or kids’ activity for after the first week of school. This helps the kids by giving them a fun day out for the family to look forward to during the week. A “pizza pig-out” sounds right up our alley, and with Labor Day conveniently following the first week of school we have a long weekend of fun activities for the kids we can plan.
If we gave our kids a choice for pizza and fun, they would shout out an exuberant “John’s! John’s! John’s!” John’s Incredible Pizza Co., that is. We love this place. Our most recent trip was on our daughter’s 7th birthday. We went just as a family and had a blast. We started our excursion with pizza and drinks. The kids love the macaroni and cheese pizza and I enjoyed a custom order pizza with my favorite toppings. I didn’t realize you could request a custom pizza, so if you have something special you like be sure to ask for it! The kids were anxious to go to the Fun World side. They finished their Summer Reading programs and received a bunch of free stuff coupons, including free Fun World Credits at John’s. We cashed those in and headed for the Twister ride and then Bumper Cars. Even the baby discovered something she loved, a new interactive virtual dance game.
Kids love having something to count down towards. Holidays, birthdays, and special events all stir up so much anticipation and excitement. A first week of school will definitely go by much faster when you’re counting down to a pizza pig-out at John’s Pizza. I love my dry-erase monthly calendar I keep on the fridge. It’s a great way to give kids a more concrete sense of time. Try making a special note on the calendar for the Labor Day weekend, and then cross out each school day as it is completed. This will help your child see how many more days they have and heighten their excitement as the big day nears. Other ideas are making a paper chain countdown craft (here’s one for counting down to a Disneyland trip) or creating a custom countdown ticker for your computer. This is fun because you can actually use this as a time lesson as your children are watching the days, hours, minutes and seconds pass.
It’s hard to part with the carefree days of Summer, but you can ease this transition by planning an end of first week celebration with your kids. Sit down with the kids and have a family meeting to discuss options for your bash. Then everyone can take a vote and plan for a fun time together.

Window Film FAQ
We’re all familiar with tinted glass in cars and the reasons for having it have become so obvious that all auto manufacturers have some level in all of their models.
We have two vehicles a 2007 Chevy Tahoe and a 2008 Chevy HHR, both with tinted windows throughout that are particularly dark in the back. The reasons for auto manufacturers spending extra money for window tint in their vehicles are simple. The tint keeps the temperature in the car down significantly, helps keep the glass in one piece in the event of impact, blocks damaging rays from the sun thereby protecting the occupants and interior and provides and extra level of privacy and security.
Window tint for vehicles is widely accepted and standard on all new models to some degree but why isn’t window film standard in homes? Even in this economy your home is the clear winner in the asset column when compared to your car so why not have window tint for your home? The reasons for installing window film in your house are identical to the reasons auto manufacturers have made it standard in their vehicles.
Let’s take them one by one:
1. In your car the tint can reduce the interior temperature by up to 60%. Reducing solar heat in your home works the same way by blocking solar heat. We thought it would be fine to just shut the blinds but there are two problems with that. First, you can’t see out and you have no natural light coming into your home. Your home effectively becomes a cave with that solution. Second, if you do decide to live with the blinds closed the heat builds up between the window and the blind eventually making it’s way out and overworking your air conditioner during the Summer months. With energy costs where they are this solution doesn’t help at all.
2. Window film helps to keep the glass together in the event of an impact. This helps in a car tremendously but also helps in your home. In the event of break in, an intruder will likely try to break the glass. Home window film does not make your glass break-proof however, it does make getting through it quite a chore. Most intruders are looking for easy opportunities and will likely move on if there is difficulty getting through the glass. We haven’t had to deal with this yet and hopefully we won’t
3. I remember the sunburns I used to get from driving my car around with the window down and before auto tint and UV protection was standard. I also remember sun-cracked dashes and scaly leather seats. Those days are over for the most part but not when it comes to your home if the protection isn’t there. How many times have you been in a home where the furniture, natural wood flooring or carpeting is faded in certain areas or only one side? It’s an easy cost-effective fix to add home window film though when the damage is done…it’s done and you’ll need to replace the faded sofa and carpeting
4. Privacy is big these days, we definitely live in a different world than it was years go. One of my favorite features of our HHR and Tahoe is the blacked out windows in the back that keep people from looking in at the contents. To see inside they’d really have to work at it and get close all at the same time not knowing if someone is inside or not.
Home window tint varies in color and darkness depending on what you want but for the most part and from the street a person cannot tell by looking at the windows if there are people inside. Yes, you can see out perfectly but this little feature of home window tint keeps your home private.
Home window film and tinting makes sense, that’s the easy part. The hard part is finding a good company to install it for you. Big name manufacturer brands won’t help you on the installation, warranty or service after the install. You need to count on the company for that. Here’s what to look for:
-Ask about the warranty. Most people don’t but you should count on a decent warranty for the window seal, glass breakage, bubbling and cracking. It’s also important to make sure the warranty is transferable if you decide to sell your home.
-Many people forget to ask how to clean the glass with window film installed. It’s best to play it safe and make sure that standard window cleaners are ok to use.
-Ask for 3 references. The company should be able to hand them to you almost immediately if they are proud of their work.
Remember the size of the company is not relevant but the work is. Ask who will be doing the actual installation and how much experience they have. You don’t want to be a practice house for a large company that recently hired 10 new recruits!
We found all of the above with a Columbus, Ohio company called Sun Block Window Film.

Search engine placement has changed drastically since our case study with Google in 2004. The problem with the vast majority of marketing is that it is not only too expensive but it also doesn't work. Our methods are radically different, an avant-garde approach that not only brings business to our vendors but also eliminates the confusion of on-line search results.
