California heat is simply unbearable for outdoor activities during the Summer months but that heat can continue throughout the year. Unless you are fortunate enough to have a swimming pool (or know someone who does). Even then, the sun can be blistering if part of the pool isn’t shaded. Pick up some additional outdoor umbrellas and place them around the pool. Another idea is to set up misters to keep the air cool where you or your company is sitting. These work great and are utilized at many restaurants with patio areas around California.
Heat is not the only problem though. Wind, rain and even cold weather can force children’s activities indoors.
In a typical year, many families would depend on their scheduled holiday vacations (Labor Day, Christmas, Memorial Day etc. )and trips to keep the children happy. This is not a typical year. The economy has taken its toll on most families and the reality is that these vacations have been canceled. Families are opting to stay home and many are even creating smaller trips where a 1-2 hour drive translates into big savings over a flight.
Regardless of the economy and fuel cost the kids still need fun things and activities to keep them busy. Many of these activities will need to be indoors to battle the intense California Summer heat and even the wind and cooler weather during the winter months.
Fortunately, while in the process of raising three kids, we’ve come up with a few kid’s indoor activity ideas to make your schoolyear go smoothly. Start with kids arts and crafts. There are hundreds of ideas on-line and supplies can be found at a local retailer. If you’re looking for more specialty supplies, think about Michael’s Crafts and Lakeshore Learning. Creative arts and crafts for kids can easily keep them busy for an hour or two but likely not more than that.
Another very popular craft idea now is scrapbooking. This is a fantastic Mother-Daughter activity that can be an ongoing Summer project. Scrap book projects range from kids photo books to ones specific to special events. The fun part is you can create and do whatever you want.
After a while though, kids will need to get out for some physical activity. There are many sports offered through the City from basketball to soccer so check early and see what they are offering. Sports teams and classes typically fill up early and not all of them are indoors.
When the kids have the itch to have just plain fun with games and rides there are many options around California for parks, but again you’ll likely be dealing with intense heat or other adverse weather. If you’re like us and you have a very young one in a stroller, it’s just not an option.
Which leads us to the idea of kids indoor parks and playgrounds. We consider these to be a “must-have” in California. Fortunately, John’s Incredible Pizza Co. answered that call.
Here’s what you get and why we and our friends like it so much:
* It’s huge! You’re not going to run out of space or things to do here. John’s is easily the largest indoor fun place for kids anywhere.
* They have indoor rides. Yes, these are real indoor rides for kids, like the twister that spins you around at what feels like several hundred miles per hour and the coolest bumper car setup we’ve seen.
* Fun and interactive video and other games
* Multiple dining rooms each with their own theme. Themes range from sports to cartoons and each is easily the size of a standard restaurant.
* The reason for multiple dining rooms would be the all-you-can-eat-buffet. The buffet ties the rides for our favorite part of John’s. Simply said they have more pizza flavors than you can imagine, tons of pasta variations and a fantastic salad bar for those seeking something a little lighter. Of course if you dine on the salad bar you’ll have room for the all-you-can-eat dessert section.
John’s Pizza is located in Bakersfield, CA and is our citizen pick for kids indoor activities. Remember, this type of activity can easily consume an entire day.

Search engine placement has changed drastically since our case study with Google in 2004. The problem with the vast majority of marketing is that it is not only too expensive but it also doesn't work. Our methods are radically different, an avant-garde approach that not only brings business to our vendors but also eliminates the confusion of on-line search results.
