Traditionally when school is out many people are searching for group party places and venues where everybody can have fun and celebrate. It’s a time when parents and kids are looking for fun things to do, particularly on hot Summer days.
Summer is also a time though when businesses are hosting corporate parties, events and even fundraisers. We’ve been to a number of these as a guest but also as the organizer.
It can be difficult to find a group party place with everything you need for your event. You have to think about the food, the place (venue) but also the fun. If the venue isn’t fun your employees and guests are going to lose interest quickly.
So if you’re searching for the perfect party or event place whether it be for your family, a group of kids or your business consider John’s Incredible Pizza Company. We’ve been to a few of their locations over the years for events ranging from birthday parties to general business get-togethers but also to just have fun with the kids.
John’s Pizza has diverse offerings. Here’s why it’s worked for us not only for birthday parties but also for corporate events:
Let’s start with the food. It’s important to have a great selection of food for your guests, employees and of course, kids. You can’t please everyone but John’s comes very close. Their all-you-can-eat buffet is the best I’ve seen. It includes a Pizza Bar with every topping you can imagine where the kitchen is constantly replenishing the supply so it’s always fresh and hot. Our personal favorite is the pesto pizza but you might try their peanut butter pizza. It’s incredible and definitely worth a try.
If you’re not a fan of pizza or craving something different the day you visit then you’re covered. John’s offers a full pasta and salad bar with fresh toppings and a multitude of pasta dishes.
And last but not least is the dessert bar. Just when you thought you were full you walk by and see fresh baked cakes, cookies and even soft-serve ice cream with all the toppings and it’s still all-you-can-eat.
Drinks come from a row of soda fountains and include all of the beverage favorites but there are also options for coffee, tea and of course water. If you’re craving a beer or glass of wine, they offer that too. There’s a two-drink maximum during standard business hours. For special events like business parties and other large group parties contact the location directly for any restrictions on alcohol.
So for any type of party whether it be a kid’s birthday party, fundraiser, or group party you know the food is sufficiently covered. But what about the fun?
If John’s is anything it’s fun. If you haven’t been to one of John’s Pizza’s 8 California locations it could be difficult to imagine what it’s like inside. This is why we love their interactive tour. You can actually take a look at everything they have to offer before you even get there.
Fun World is just that, a very large indoor area with rides, games, prizes and other fun things to do. The rides range from bumper cars to the spinning twister and even glow golf. It’s not just fun for kids but also for adults. This type of fun indoor environment can easily consume a day for your party or event.
So now you have the food and fun covered but what about an actual private area where you can have a birthday party or large corporate event?
For birthday parties John’s has private rooms that look out to Fun World. This is a great setup because you get the privacy of having your own room but the openness of an all-glass entrance. With this the kids can look out at Fun World while they enjoy their cake and gift opening.
John’s is great for kid’s birthday parties but it’s also perfect as a group party venue. They offer much larger rooms with all the accommodations you’ll need for a business meeting or fundraiser. From web connections, to big screens even podiums and of course closed doors so it’s quiet when the time comes to get down to business. We love John’s for this application.
We’ve been to so many business events where the venue is simply boring. If the participants lose interest or they have nothing to look forward to (like lots of food and fun), the meeting can be unproductive.

Kids indoor activities > fun things to do on a hot day > Montclair CA
Most kids will be out of school around the first week of June. This marks the beginning of a busy Summer for most parents organizing vacations and activities that involve the kids.
This year many families have canceled travel plans due to the economy. Not only are flights too expensive but even the cost of driving to your favorite beach location could be out of the question. If you are one of those families you’ll need additional activities for your kids to keep them busy.
There are many great ideas for kids activities in Montclair. For some, this is a great opportunity to learn an instrument or take other art classes. There is always soccer and other sports related camps that typically last 1-2 weeks. Be sure to check with the city to see what they offer.
Remember to mix up the activities and keep it exciting for your children. Kids have short attention spans so don’t count on music lessons or a 1 week basketball camp to keep them happy the entire Summer.
Obviously getting outdoors is great. BBQ’s are always a Summer favorite. If you’re fortunate enough to have a swimming pool put it to good use because it’s going to be a very hot Summer.
Temperatures in May are already topping out at 105 in Montclair. The fire season has also started, in fact, LA County Fire has been flying over our home for 3 days in an attempt to put out a fire driven by strong, hot winds. This affects the air quality significantly so it’s best to stay indoors or look for indoor activities for your kids. Even when we keep our kids indoors they still sneeze and cough when the smoke comes our direction. Check your air filters and consider running your air conditioner to not only keep you and your children cool but also to keep the air clean in your home.
If you need to get out for some indoor kids activities check your options, which will depend on the ages of your children. For very young children MyGym is a fantastic idea. These are typically smaller facilities and often you’ll need to be signed up for classes but they also allow walk-ins during certain hours.
Chuck E Cheese locations have been around for a very long time and they’re located in many cities. It is a nice option if you need to keep your kids cool for a couple of hours. We went to Chuck E Cheese until our kids were about 4 and they really enjoyed their time there. Now they’re a bit older and more adventurous, which led us to Disneyland.
Disneyland offers it all, fantastic rides, shows and food but you pay for it. For a family of four it can be very expensive for the day or weekend but definitely worth the trip. If you happen to visit Disneyland on a very hot day and you need an escape head to the Blue Bayou restaurant. It’s a bit off the beaten path but the food is great and it’s easily the “coolest” restaurant at Disneyland.
Between Chuck E Cheese and Disneyland is John’s Incredible Pizza Company. The name can be a bit confusing. They do have incredible pizza but this 100% indoor play place for kids is very big, big enough for rides like bumper cars a mini roller coaster and some very cool video games.
We like John’s for our kids, not only because it’s completely indoors (which makes it really nice for hot or rain days), but also because of the food they offer.
The entrance fee is the cost of the buffet, which is really low given what you get and it’s all you can eat. They obviously have many flavors of pizza but they also have many types of pasta and salad to cover the non-pizza lovers. Beverages are all you can drink for around a dollar. This excludes their beer and wine offerings, which are additional.
It’s really interesting how they set up the eating rooms. You can think of each room as a small restaurant in itself (that’s how big this place is). The rooms are theme based from sports to music videos and even a cartoon based one. They also have one that is a bit more quiet as an escape for parents.
We frequent the Montclair California location, most recently for a kids birthday party but have also visited the location in Riverside.
Keep your options open this Summer for your kid’s activities and even parties and party venues. Make a list of 10-15 ideas then keep that handy when the kids get bored, as we know they will.
