Celebrations at the Victoria Gardens Mall in Rancho Cucamonga have become commonplace for many families. In the last 12 months we’ve celebrated Mother’s Day, two birthdays, and Memorial Day. We made numerous visits around Thanksgiving and Christmas and are now making plans for Father’s Day. And why not? Victoria Gardens mall offers everything a family needs and then some. And with the economy where it is many of our family friends are staying home, opting not to take the standard two-week vacation, instead 1/2 day trips are the norm.
Victoria Gardens is a great Father’s Day destination. Here’s why:
It’s kid-friendly. Have comfort in knowing the mall is extremely accommodating to children. They’ve built fantastic playground areas but have also included the Cultural Center, a kids arts and crafts studio (Color Me Mine) and over the Summer host movies and concerts in the park. The mall also is speckled with a great variety of child-related retailers for clothing, accessories and our kid’s favorite, Moondoggies where the cutest pups are on display and ready for new owners.
It’s Mom and Dad Friendly. The shopping is great for clothing of course but also for fun things Dad might enjoy like technology, gadgets, cigars and an enormous outdoorsman facility for everything from hunting to fishing, boating and camping. If you haven’t purchased a Father’s Day gift yet, maybe you should wait and see what the mall has to offer first. You’re sure to find something he’ll love.
Victoria Gardens also offers a great array of stores and things for Mom to do to whether it be shopping, getting a massage or doing art activities with the kids at Color Me Mine. It’s also perfect for Mother’s Day so remember that one for next year. The brunch is fantastic!
We love the shopping at the mall but it wouldn’t be the same without the selection of restaurants. Simply said, the Victoria Gardens Mall offers the best selection of restaurants we’ve seen anywhere and we’ve traveled quite a bit. We’ve had it all from ribs to steak, pizza and the best seafood and sushi anywhere, which is where we celebrated Mother’s Day and had one of our most pleasurable experiences.
If you haven’t tried King’s Fish House for the seafood it’s an absolute must. The only problem we have when receiving the menu is deciding what to order. Even if you aren’t a fan of seafood they’ll either convert you or deliver one of their non-seafood options that are also fantastic. For us the decision has always been whether to order sushi as our entree or one of the other dishes that range from halibut to Copper River salmon, which is only there for a limited time but unbelievably good. We solved this dilemma by ordering sushi as our appetizer. If you love sushi or you’re trying it for the first time, go to King’s Fish, it’s the best we’ve had.
Now when we went for Mother’s Day we were surprised at the end of our meal when the manager came by and gave us two $10 gift certificates, one for each Mom at the table. These were not coupons but actual gift certificates. We promptly used them up for a birthday in May.
We found out yesterday that King’s will be doing the exact same thing for Father’s Day. Visit June 15, order an entree and let it be known that you are there celebrating Father’s Day. When you’re done you’ll get the $10 gift certificate for each Father at the table good for your next visit. If you were planning on brunch or dinner for the family, this is one of the best options because not only will the menu accommodate everyone but you’ll also walk out with something you can use later.
We like this from King’s because it shows us they really care about the customer and want you to come back. This type of customer engagement is rarely seen today and it’s one reason why we recommend King’s Fish House for Father’s Day dinner at Victoria Gardens.

Rancho Cucamonga kid’s activities and fun things to do
I’m originally from Ohio where the weather was a tad more predictable. In Ohio it is freezing in the winter, rainy in the fall (actually most of the time), and extremely hot and humid in the Summer. It’s somewhat easier to schedule kid’s activities there because you know what to expect.
Now living in Southern California and more specifically, Rancho Cucamonga, I have experienced some very interesting weather. From heavy rain to high winds and extremely hot temperatures you never really know what you’re going to get. This makes planning outdoor kid’s activities difficult at times. It also causes some serious cases of cabin fever when the weather takes a sudden turn for the worse and the kids are stuck in the house all day. This is just as difficult for the parents who need a little quiet time!
About a month ago one of our daughters was invited to a birthday party at My Gym in Rancho Cucamonga. We had heard of it but never been there. The staff treated the birthday girl like a princess and our two daughters ages 9 months and 6 years adored their time there. Our 9 month old now knows what we’re talking about when we mention “My Gym” and she displays a big smile.
We’ve been to My Gym in Rancho Cucamonga a number of times now and have noticed some really neat things that they do.
* The gym equipment is changed weekly providing a varied play experience each time you attend. This stimulates the senses and encourages the children to explore the “new” territory.
* The instructors learn children’s names right away, take time to make each child feel special and acknowledged.
* The instructors PLAY HARD with the kids, engaging them in fun new activities, helping the children organize their own activities, or just becoming an enthusiastic participant in what the children are already doing.
* Emphasis is on encouragement and building confidence in cooperative, non-competitive skills training and play.
* My Gym in Rancho Cucamonga offers special babysitting nights where children can be dropped off for fun while parents can have some child. (love this one)
We’ve planned a birthday party for our youngest there in June but also have signed up both our daughters monthly. We frequent the “free plays” once a week.
But, you don’t have to be a member to try it out, just check the class schedule, show up and have fun.

Finding a tutor in Corona is not an easy task. First, one needs to understand and identify the need for a tutor. Second, make sure you have found not only the right tutoring agency but also the best individual for your son or daughter.
CBS News recently reported on early intervention programs, one specifically in San Bernardino where special ed classes have been cut in half. This was due to the early intervention, which placed children in tutoring before or after school.
The reality is today that many kids need some extra one on one assistance.
There are solutions to this problem that create tremendous opportunity for your kids to keep up or even get ahead with their schoolwork. Some parents have chosen to home school, which obviously is very interactive and shows a tremendous amount of involvement on the parents part. In this situation a home schooled student could still need extra attention in a particular subject that might not be the educating parent’s favorite.
Other parents who work or don’t have the time to help their kids get ahead can bring in an in-home tutor, which logically seems to be the best way to go. The environment is comfortable and safe. It also eliminates that valuable drive time that most parents simply don’t have between all of the kid’s activities.
There are many large agencies offering kid’s tutoring from Sylvan Learning Centers, Kumon, Math Monkey to Tutorwhiz in Corona.
Obviously a one-on-one approach is the most effective. Yes we need to define “one-on-one” as one tutor tutoring one student. If you aren’t specific with these questions you’ll be surprised at how easily your hard earned money will go toward something that isn’t truly what you had expected.
Check that the tutors have the necessary credentials, which could mean they are teachers, college graduates or honors students with at least 2 years of tutoring experience. Also, are they using the school curriculum and will they contact your child’s teacher if necessary? These are all great questions to ask.
Do you want your son or daughter tutored in your home? Intuitively, this is a good choice. It’s time saving for the parents while allowing a safe learning environment for your kids. This likely will help with parent involvement too, time permitting. We all work long days but it’s important to know how our kids are progressing in school.
Is tutoring affordable? This is relative, but one question you should ask is, can you afford to not have your child keep up or get ahead?

Search engine placement has changed drastically since our case study with Google in 2004. The problem with the vast majority of marketing is that it is not only too expensive but it also doesn't work. Our methods are radically different, an avant-garde approach that not only brings business to our vendors but also eliminates the confusion of on-line search results.
