Indoor Activities During Hot Weather – Bakersfield, CA
Here’s the Map!

Theme Rooms
It was just two weeks ago that temperatures were up to 110 throughout Southern California. Recently temperatures have dropped but they’re predicted to go back up into the 100′s throughout August.
In terms of Summer events planned, we typically would get passes for Disneyland, not this year as it’s way too expensive. Even the gas to get there (at the new “cheap” prices) is too much on a strict budget. But the kids still crave the amusement park type atmosphere so we had to find another option that made financial sense and was nearby.
We found just what we were looking for in John’s Incredible Pizza in Bakersfield, CA. Our first visit to this indoor park was for a birthday party we were invited to for the kids. We loved it and continued to go back when the weather was bad or the kids needed to get rid of some energy, which is quite often!
John’s always works for us, we go about once a month, typically on the weekends but also on weekday holidays and any day during the summer months.
What do we love about it? The food for two reasons. First, it’s all-you-can-eat so the kids can eat all day with limited cost. Second, the food is just great if you like pizza, pasta, salad and desserts. The selection is huge too and the pizza is always fresh and HOT!
Here’s the short list of why we go to John’s in Bakersfield:
1. The All-you-can-eat-buffet of pizza, pasta, salad, dessert and fountain drinks
2. Beer and wine are available at an additional charge with a two drink limit
3. Multiple themed rooms about the size of a standard restaurant that will take care of any mood you may be in
4. Rides, fun and games that are relevant for very young ones all the way up to adults

Fireworks and Events – 2010 4th of July – Bakersfield, California

All-You-Can-Eat
4th of July celebrations and fireworks in Bakersfield are just days away. This year many people are opting to stay home in lieu of the expensive two week family vacation. Maybe the economy will be better next year but this doesn’t mean your Independence Day fun has to suffer.
4th of July barbeques are an absolute must, otherwise the holiday just wouldn’t be the same. Many of your local Bakersfield grocery stores are having big sales this Summer so check your local store website to see which chain has the best offers. Competition is stiff so as a consumer, you win.
Fourth of July falls on a Sunday this year, which makes for a fun weekend. Remember, most businesses will be closed Monday for the holiday too.
If your family is like ours you’ll start the holiday with outdoor games or swimming then move to the cookout and ice cold beverages. As the sun begins to set it’ll be time to pack up and get ready for the fireworks show.
This year you can find all of the Bakersfield/ Kern County fireworks and events at the city website
. Most cities have gates opening between 5-7pm and fireworks starting around 9pm but check to be sure.
The kids will undoubtedly need to get out for some physical activity and other fun things on Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures are expected to approach 100 degrees this holiday weekend so you should consider some indoor activities to keep the kids (and you) cool.
If the kids want fun with rides and games, there are many options around California for parks, but again you’ll likely be dealing with intense heat so it might be a good idea to look for a few indoor options.
Indoor parks are a must in California. John’s Incredible Pizza Co. is the only facility we’re aware of that has diverse offerings for the entire family with an amusement park feel.

Party Rooms at John's
School is almost out in California, about 3 weeks and counting, and the unofficial start (Memorial Day) is next week. The kids will be looking for fun things to do so it’s time to start crafting that list. If one of your kids has a Summer birthday, you have even more planning to do and it’s not always easy.
One consideration is the date. Many families travel during the Summer, so you have to juggle the actual date around the best friends’ availability. It’s always a good idea to check with the friends before you set the date. It’s easier for you to move a date than for them to move a vacation.
Next check to make sure you aren’t scheduling the birthday on a holiday. Memorial Day weekend and July 4th are family oriented holidays so most people likely won’t show for a kid’s birthday party no matter how fun it is.
After figuring out the date, you’ll need to pick a venue. We’ve probably been to every venue you can imagine in the area from bounce houses to arts and crafts oriented parties. They’re all fun but there’s one that stands out for us.
John’s Incredible Pizza has 10 locations in California. You can think of John’s as an indoor theme park, which is a good thing given the hot weather over the Summer months. We’re big fans because we love the rides and games, food choices and the fact that it’s an affordable day of fun.
Here are a few reasons we really enjoy John’s Incredible Pizza:
1. The All-you-can-eat-buffet of pizza, pasta, salad, dessert and fountain drinks is the best we’ve seen anywhere.
2. Beer and wine are available at an additional charge with a two drink limit so it’s a nice release for parents too!
3. Multiple themed rooms about the size of a standard restaurant that will take care of any mood you may be in. My personal favorite is the sports room.
4. Rides, fun and games that are relevant for very young ones all the way up to adults.
5. The cost just makes sense particularly when compared to the alternatives.
If you’re looking for a fun, convenient party place for your kids or something cool to do this Memorial Day 2010, John’s is the perfect option!

Search engine placement has changed drastically since our case study with Google in 2004. The problem with the vast majority of marketing is that it is not only too expensive but it also doesn't work. Our methods are radically different, an avant-garde approach that not only brings business to our vendors but also eliminates the confusion of on-line search results.
